Statsconsultancy Ltd is a company run by Paul Bassett providing freelance statistical consultancy in a wide range of areas, and is based close to London, UK. Our speciality is the application of statistics to medical research and clinical trials, but we are also experienced in the use of statistics in many other areas including finance, education and agriculture.


We are happy to give advice on all statistical issues, and also to undertake detailed statistical analysis. The length of projects undertaken can range from a single hour of advice to the analysis of large and complex datasets.

Statistical Analysis


We can:
- Give advice on the most appropriate methods of statistical analysis
- Perform detailed statistical analysis using the most up to date statistical methods
- Provide an explanation of results so that the statistical methods and results are clearly explained


Study Design and Planning


Study design is an essential and much neglected aspect of research. We can help with:

- Design and conduct of clinical trials, experiments and surveys
- Sample size calculations
- Randomisation
- Writing of statistical analysis plans, and statistical sections for grant applications, protocols and ethics submissions


Teaching and Training


All teaching and training is specifically tailored towards the need of the client. This can can any number of forms:
- One-off lectures 
- Workshops
- Whole courses


Statistical Software


We have considerable experience of many statistical software packages, and can help with all of:
- SPSS
- Stata
- Minitab
- MLwiN

STATISTICS EXPLAINED

In our experience many non-statisticians have understandable difficulty with statistics, as many may have received only minimal training in this area. Therefore we make it an absolute priority that all advice and analysis is given with a minimum of statistical jargon, and a full and clear explanation of the main results and how these relate to the objectives of the work.


A detailed report explaining all statistical methods and results is provided with all analysis, including tables and figures ready for inclusion in a publication. A draft version of the statistical methods and results sections of a journal paper can also be produced if required.

PRICES

Our usual policy is to charge for the number of hours spent on each project. Alternatively, if preferred, a fixed rate for the entire project can be agreed.


Our rates are:

- Non-commercial  - £75 per hour
- Commercial  - £115 per hour
